Brief description
The photodetectors of the HCA-S series consist of Si-PIN or InGaAs-PIN photodiodes and transimpedance amplifiers for converting small optical signals into proportional output voltages. They have fixed gains and are optimised for high bandwidths.

High bandwidth and extremely low noise
The photodetectors combine Si or InGaAs PIN photodiodes with specially developed, low-noise transimpedance amplifiers that achieve gain of up to 105 V/A. This unique combination results in photodetectors with high bandwidth and an exceptionally low NEP down to 3.5 pW/√Hz at bandwidths from DC up to 400 MHz.
Compatible with optical bench (free space) and fibre optics
The free space inputs (FST) are designed as 1.035″-40 threaded flanges with screw-on coupler rings. It opens up a broad compatibility with optical accessories from various manufacturers, such as lenses, tubes, cage systems, optical adapters etc.
The relatively large-area detectors facilitate focusing in free space applications and ensure high and stable coupling efficiency even when using the optionally available fibre optic adapters.
The photodetectors can easily be converted to a fibre connection (FC, FSMA) thanks to the large detector surface, by simply screwing on optionally available fibre adapters of the PRA series.
From approximately 400 µm Ø and below, coupling efficiency may decrease when using the adapters. If coupling efficiency is critical, we recommend models with FC connections.
All photoreceivers are equipped with UNC 8-32 and M4 threaded holes and can therefore be conveniently and stably integrated into optical systems on standard holders.
